V. William “Bill” Nissen

V. William “Bill” Nissen passed away Sunday January 9, 2022 at Brookestone Village in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bill was born March 1, 1937 to Verner and Frances Nissen of Fremont, Nebraska. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1955 and Midland College in 1960. He worked between his sophomore and junior year of college at Union Pacific where he met his future wife, Judith Markel of Glenwood, Iowa. They were married in 1961. Bill joined the Ford Motor Company in Omaha where the couple resided until he purchased the Ford dealership in 1974 in Glenwood, Iowa. He retired in 1999 after selling the dealership.

Preceding Bill in death were his infant son, Gregory Neal Nissen, parents Verner and Frances Nissen, step-mother, Helen Nissen. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Nissen, sister-in-law Suzanne and husband Larry Horbach, four nieces whom he adored. Anne Heard, Alison Traubel, Shannon Smiley and Kelley Peters, seven great nieces and nephews all of Omaha.

Bill and Judy loved all their fur babies who were so much a part of their lives. Memorials may be made to the Nebraska Humane Society in Bill’s memory. No funeral services will be held and a family burial will be at a later date.

    I am saddened by the passing of Bill, a Ford friend for many years. I looked to Bill many times for business guidance, always receiving sound advice from a gentleman that I respected.
