Johnnie D. “John” Endicott

Johnnie Dee “John” Endicott, 69 of Glenwood, Iowa passed away April 9, 2021 at his home in Glenwood. He was born on August 2, 1951 at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska to Jay Dee and Joyce Elaine (Coghill) Endicott. John was raised in several small communities in southwest Iowa and southeast Nebraska and graduated from Fremont Mills High School.

John faithfully served his country in the Navy from 1971-1975. He was united in marriage to Rochelle “Shelley” Leet on April 3, 1976 in Glenwood, Iowa. They just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. To this marriage they were blessed with two children, Trevor and Erin.

John was employed at the Glenwood Resource Center in the Department of Human Services until his retirement.

John was past president of Glenwood Optimist Wrestling, Charter member and past trustee of F.O.E. 3784 and Glenwood American Legion Post 141. He enjoyed gardening and shared his produce with neighbors and friends. Cooking was one of his favorite things and he created many of his own recipes. He taught his children and grandchildren his love of cooking and could whip up large amounts of pasta and potato salads with no problem. His greatest devotion and pride was to his family and friends.

Preceding John in passing were his parents and father-in-law Eamer Leet. Survivors include his wife Shelley Endicott of Glenwood, Iowa; children Trevor (Katy) Endicott of Glenwood, Iowa; Erin (SFC Timothy) Morrow of Cadiz, Kentucky; grandchildren Mackenzie (Jake) Devitt, Jadelin Morrow, Madelin Morrow, Morgan Endicott, Maggie Endicott and Liam John Endicott; mother-in-law Peggy Leet of Glenwood, Iowa; siblings Kathy, Debbie, Barbara and Jim; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life services to be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Mills County K-9 Unit or the Mills County Food Pantry.
