James Lyle Christensen, 87 of Glenwood, IA formerly of Blair, NE entered into eternal rest on Nov. 24, 2012 in Glenwood, IA. He was born Jan. 5, 1925 in rural Blair, NE to Niels Emil & Carrie Augusta (Madzen) Christensen.
James spent his childhood in Blair & Elkhorn, NE. James graduated from high school in 1943. He then faithfully served his country in the Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Mildred Jean Labs on Dec. 2, 1949. To this union twin daughters were born, Jacque and Jane. James was a farmer for many years. Following retirement, he and Mildred traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. They resided in Wyoming, Montana and relocated to Glenwood after living in Texas. James was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Jane & sister, Leona Thone. He is survived by his daughter, Jacque & husband Dr. Darcey Butts of Glenwood, IA: grandsons, Marvin & wife Allison & their children, Ashley, Austin, Andrew and Amelia; Lonnie & wife Sarah Butts & children, Isaac & Reagen; brother, Milo & wife Beverly Christensen of Blair, NE: nephew, John Thone of CO; Brent Thone; Dennis Thone; Sarah Jensen all of Blair, NE; Lisa Bowser of Ft. Calhoun, NE; Michael Christensen of Herman, NE: Paul Christensen of Blair, NE: extended relatives and many friends.
Inurnment will be held in the Kennard Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Glenwood Sr. Center both in Glenwood, IA.
