Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One for over 100 years.

Donald Fredrick Dauwen

Mass of Christian Burial:  Saturday, August 14, 2021, 10:00 A.M., St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 803 N. 1st Street, Groton, South Dakota. Interment following services at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Andover, South Dakota.

Donald Fredrick Dauwen, 82 of Glenwood, Iowa formerly of Aberdeen, South Dakota passed away on June 17, 2021 in Bellevue, Nebraska. He was born on November 14, 1938 in Andover, South Dakota to Joseph Charles and Edith Eva (Jensen) Dauwen.

Donald faithfully served his country in the Air Force from 1956-1960. He was a skilled carpenter and towards the end of his career owned a siding and gutter business. Donald prided himself on doing quality work that created relationships with families and repeat business.

Some of his hobbies included playing cards and cribbage, going to the casinos with friends and family, doing crosswords, bowling and fishing. During retirement, Donald spent several years helping as a volunteer grandparent at the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Aberdeen.

Donald lived many places and felt God guided his journey. He was a devout Catholic and always found a church to worship no matter where he resided. In Tennessee they joked about how he was the oldest altar boy because he assisted all of the time.

Preceding Donald in passing were his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include his children Leslie (Robyn) Hanna; Robert (Thana) Hanna all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Arien Crawford of Newark, California; Corrienne (Corey) Gray of Glenwood, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, 1 brother, many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
