Visitation: Friday, January 5, 2024, 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Rosary at 7:00 P.M., Peterson Mortuary, 212 S. Locust Street, Glenwood, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, January 6, 2024, 1:00 P.M., Immaculate Conception Church, 2708 S. 24th Street, Omaha, Nebraska.

David (Davey) Joseph Webster was born in Great Bend, Kansas on March 23rd, 1963 to Cornelius & Gladys Webster.

The youngest son, Dave grew up with his older brother Chuck, his sisters Pam & Brenda and his cousin Pat who was like another brother to him. Graduating from Great Bend High School and attending Barton County Community College, Dave approached everything in life with a spirit of generosity and dedication: from his faith to his family to his work and even to his love of music as a drummer.

As a young man, Dave moved to Omaha Nebraska where he met the love of his life, Catherine Vrbka and they married on April 25th, 1992. Dave & Cathy were blessed with their daughter Chelsea in 1995 and settled in Glenwood Iowa where they welcomed their niece Abby into their home as their daughter in 2003.

Dave was blessed early on with a wonderful mentor in Tony Axman, whom he always thanked for giving him the opportunity to pursue what became his life-long love of computers and programming. Always upholding unquestionable standards of integrity in business, Dave built multiple technology consulting firms, infusing his companies with names reflecting his love for his Catholic faith: “Seraph” and later “Serviam” with his long-time business partner Chris Larson.

Raised as a devout Catholic by his loving and faithful mother Gladys, Dave found a new fervor with Cathy in their discovery of the Tridentine Latin Mass in 2008. His love for the Mass of the Ages served to increase his devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and Christ the King. Ever the generous giver, Dave and Cathy have made it their apostolate to support priests and seminarians alike, frequently visiting Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary and entertaining clerics in their Glenwood home affectionately called by many “The Webster Inn.” This fire for his faith eventually led to Dave and Cathy to being recommended and admitted into Knighthood & Damehood of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in 2010.  Dave and Cathy continued this redoubled devotion to their Catholic faith by taking their daughters on pilgrimage to Rome, the Eternal City, in the Fall of 2013.

Dave’s motto, “Endeavor to persevere” is perhaps the perfect encapsulation of his life mission: to strive for sainthood through charity, giving, kindness and patient long-suffering…all with a perpetual smile on his face and a kind word for every soul he met. Any person who ever met Dave, knows that his greatest joy was in giving. Dave didn’t have “hobbies”, he had pursuits to which he dedicated himself. If he was going to do something he was going to do it well, including beekeeping, rosary making and later his love of smoking good tobacco and beautiful pipes.

Few things matched Dave’s love for his family and especially his grandchildren. In 2014, Abby married Peter Coffey and they live in Omaha, blessed with their five children: Maximus, Elise, Juliana, Michael, Malachi and a baby boy due in March of 2024. In 2016, Chelsea married William Schutzman and they live in Kansas City with their five children: Eleanor, Alfred, Harvey, Emilia and Evangeline. Dave is survived by his loving wife Cathy, his two devoted daughters, his eleven beautiful grandchildren and remembered by all as a man of great faith, integrity, kindness and generosity.

Private Interment: Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.

Memorial donations may be directed to Immaculate Conception Church.

My deepest condolences for your loss. What a kind and wonderful man he was! I never saw Mr Webster without a smile on his face. I keep replaying the words he would always say to me when I saw him “sharpest tool in the shed!” laughing as he said it 🙂 You will be greatly missed by all the lives you touched!

Mr. Webster was the kindest soul one could meet. He welcomed everyone with open arms and a jolly smile- so cheerful that you couldn’t help but smile when you looked at him. I’m convinced he never knew a “stranger.” Even if you were a stranger (by definition), he always had something nice to say was sure to make you feel as though you’d always been friends. As mentioned throughout this memorial post, he was also one of the most giving people. Anytime we would visit, we were greeted with kindness, generosity and an invitation to the fridge, the kitchen, the pantry- you name it. “Make yourselves at home” was not just a saying to Mr. Webster- he meant it! “Sainthood through Charity” is without a doubt a motto he lived out in his daily life. I consider myself blessed to have known a man with such a passion for charity, kindness and generosity. He will be missed. God rest his soul and be assured of our prayers for not only his soul, but also for you- Mrs. Webster and the Webster family. <3

My deepest condolences to the Webster friends and family. I first met Davie when he was one of the founders of Kalos. We became good friends over the many years since. I’ve worked for him on many occasions. He was a great guy and a great leader, showing nothing but respect for me. In many ways, he helped me be a better software developer. He will be greatly missed. God’s blessing to all the family!

Condolences from Davey’s Sue Bee Honey family. Davey’s passing is an unfathomable business and personal loss to all who worked with him. Personally I consider Davey a great friend and someone I hold in high esteem. He was the best business associated I’ve ever worked with and a man of great morality. We will miss him dearly.

  • PAUL J BONELLO Posted January 4, 2024 1:07 pm

Ever faithful, ever hopeful, ever loving… prayers and offerings go out for this great man of faith. I met Davey via various business opportunities where Davey always managed to bring his faith, hope and love into the discussion.

Even if the particular business opportunity did not result in an actual professional engagement, nevertheless, I was always better for having met and discussed it with Davey.

Eternal rest grant onto Davey Joseph O Lord and may your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

I first met Davey approximately 30 years ago, when working with him on an IT project. He later became a colleague and a friend. He always practiced the most ethical methods, and treated all around him with generosity and graciousness. We conducted many a business deal over just a handshake, and there was never any question of Davey’s integrity. I’ll miss him, and am thankful to be able to call him my friend.

  • Mick and Renee Kovar Posted January 4, 2024 4:39 pm

Cathy, we have been thinking of you all week and are praying for you. Dave was such a presence of kindness and joy whenever we saw him. His positivity always shone through no matter who he was talking with. Though he will be missed down here on earth, God has big plans for him. May you find peace and comfort through God’s presence.

I was sad to hear of Davey’s passing. I have nothing but great memories of the times spent with Davey at various companies and church events. Anybody that met him knew that he loved his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We both would share our faith in God and talk about helping other people with their needs. Davey would go out of his way to help anyone. He was truly selfless in all he did. I know I am a better person from knowing and spending time with him. I will miss his friendly smile and joyful attitude. I know I will see him in Heaven some day. Until then peace be with you my friend and your families and all who had the honor of knowing him. Davey will be forever missed. Sincerely. Stan Miles

Davey, was my mentor. He helped me greatly with my Programming Career. He offered help, at a time when no one else would help me out. He was always welcoming and took the time to explain proper programming logic. Of course, I heard the advice, “Endeavor to Persevere”, and I had to look up those words.

I cannot say enough good things about Davey. He was a very kind-hearted soul, that always reached out to people. I am so blessed to have met him. Thanks, Davey!
