Burl J. Krecklow

Graveside Services with Military Honors:  Wednesday, July 15, 2020, 11:00 A.M., West Liberty Cemetery, Rural Glenwood, Iowa.

Burl J. Krecklow, 95 of Glenwood, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 9, 2020. Burl was born on April 26, 1925 in Mills County, Iowa to Harold and Etta (Benedict) Krecklow. Burl was raised in Glenwood. He spent 16 years in California then moved to Springfield, Missouri from 1980-1984. He relocated to Pacific Junction before returning to Glenwood.

Burl was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Coy on October 1, 1945 in Glenwood, Iowa. To this union three children were born; Sheila, twin sons Henry and Jeffrey. Burl faithfully served his country during WW II from 1943-46. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed as a manager for a service and moving station. Burl was a disabled veteran and a member of the First Christian Church which is now known as Vine Street Bible Church.

Burl enjoyed eating at the Cracker Barrel every day. The employees looked forward to seeing him and thought of him as family. He was a kind and gentle person who loved his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and friends and will be missed by all of them.

Preceding Burl in passing were his parents Harold and Etta, wife Patricia, siblings Orville Krecklow, Ralph Krecklow, Lillian Deitz, Earl Krecklow and Laruin Krecklow. Survivors include his children Sheila (Terry) Huffman of Glenwood, Iowa; Jeffrey (Kathleen) Krecklow of Sequim, Washington; Henry (Tina) Krecklow of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; several relatives and many, many friends.

A memorial fund has been established.

    I was so so sorry to hear of Burl’s passing, he was a great neighbor for many years!!
