Bonnie Lou Barrett, 81 of Pacific Junction, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on August 3, 2023. She was born June 5, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska to Leroy Benard and Marie Harriett (Jenkins) Johnson. Bonnie was united in marriage to Maurice Bernard Barrett on June 22, 1961 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved her pets throughout the years. It was as though she was a pet whisperer and they sensed her love for them.
Bonnie enjoyed sewing, coloring, puzzles, loved to read and be with her family. She visited 48 state capitals throughout her lifetime. Her kind and gentle nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding Bonnie in passing were her parents and brother Bob Johnson. Survivors include her husband Maurice Barrett of Pacific Junction, Iowa; children Steve (Paula) Barrett of Malvern, Iowa; Sandy (Matt) McLain of Bellevue, Nebraska; Sheri (Terry) Hansen of Glenwood, Iowa; Scott (Laura) Barrett of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Shawn (Tara) Barrett of Glenwood, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ruth Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life is to be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be directed to Mills County 4-H.

‘Grandpa’ Maurice, Sara, Lisa, Steve, Shawn and family, I am so sorry for your loss. ‘Grandma’ Bonnie was an amazing woman. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Very sad to hear of Bonnie’s passing. She was a great lady and wonderful to work with and a great friend. Heaven gained a beautiful lady. Our hearts go out to the entire Barrett family.
