Charles Wayne Martin, 76 of Lincoln, NE, died on Friday, November 14, 2008. Wayne was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on June 9, 1932 to Charlie and Eunice (Topham) Martin. He married Janet Ayres Carter on September 3, 1955.
Wayne received a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Iowa State University. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to Iowa State and earned an M.S. and Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. He was a professor at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln until his retirement.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Carroll. Surviving family members are his wife, Janet, his son Charles of Lafayette, Co. Son and Daughter-in-law Edwin and Lori Martin of South Burlington, VT and grandchildren Christian, Lauren and Andrew Martin.
Visitation hours are on Tuesday from 6-8 pm with the family at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30am at the Community of Christ Church. A Funeral Service will be held at Community of Christ Church on 44th & South Street at 10:30am Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Community of Christ Church or Donors Choice in c/o Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home. Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Iowa.
Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Peterson Mortuary will be handling the graveside services Thursday,
November 20, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.
