Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One for over 100 years.

Traca F. Alley

Traca Faye Alley was born April 5, 1960 in Ipswich, England to Dallas and Faye Alley, along with her twin sister, Debra Gayle, who lived for 2 days. She was preceded in birth by her older sister, Michelle. Due to our father being in the Air Force, Traca lived in Louisiana, where our brother, Steve was born. Thereafter, she lived in Japan, Michigan, Illinois, North Dakota, as well as two separate times in Council Bluffs, while our father was stationed overseas in Alaska and Korea, respectively. When Traca was a freshman in high school, our father retired from the Air Force, and our family moved to Glenwood, Iowa, the hometown of both parents. After graduating high school in 1978, she earned her bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis on special education at Peru State College in 1982. During her time in college, she was Circle K Chapter President, where she received an Achievement Award from the Nebraska Governor, Charles Thone. She was also a member of Who’s Who among students in American Universities and Colleges in 1982. Although her life dream was to teach, she was unable to do so except in a substitute capacity because of her health. She worked at the Glenwood State Hospital School for several years until her health forced her to retire. Traca was very active in the First Christian Church as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher and several service organizations within the church. Later she became a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Along with teaching, she loved learning and became an avid student of Faith Bible Institute taught by Pastor John Yates, receiving her Bible College Diploma in May of 2007. In keeping with her love of teaching, she mentored, home schooled and tutored many children, including her nieces and nephews. Traca was known for her honesty and generosity. During junior high school in North Dakota, Traca accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and He was her constant source of comfort and strength, so much so that even during her pain and suffering, she could proclaim, “It is well with by soul.”

Preceding Traca in death was her sister, Debra Gayle; grandparents, Dora & Kenneth Alley; Roy & Opal Clowers; parents, Dallas & Faye Alley. She is survived by her brother, Steve (Angie) Alley; sister, Michelle (Gary) Johnson; nieces & nephews, Amber, Taylor, Elias, Drew, Lauren, Connor, Lydia & Lana; great-nieces, Bailey & Jayden. She is also survived by her stepmother, Mary, her neighbor & friend, Dixie; her beloved dog, Sadie Jane, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

To Tracy’s family, It is with heartfelt love for Traca, that I send my sympathyies to you all. Traca was a wonderful friend to me and taught me much over the years. I feel blest to have been her friend. She will be missed, but I know she is rid of her illness and at peace.
