Roy had six sisters and six brothers; Alice, Rossetta, Elsie, Mary, Betsie, Effie, William, Russell, Oscar, Archi, Robert and Homer.

Roy remained in the Glenwood area until he finished his education. He worked as a woodcutter along with teaching karate.

On June 25, 1949, Roy enlisted in the Navy. During this time, he also boxed. Roy was a WWII Veteran & P.O.W. for 2 years. Upon Roy’s return, he worked at a packinghouse, cut wood and instructed karate. Roy and Freda Kimsey were married on July 1, 1949 and to this union three children were born, Leonard, Joe and Betty Lou. Roy also had a daughter, Betty Townsend by Ruth Stuart. Roy and Freda continued cutting wood and trapping animals selling in a four state region. Roy loved dogs and trained them to be show and hunting dogs. His Mountain View Curr was his pride and joy. Roy and his dogs were listed in the Mountain View Curr Trainer and Breeder Organization and also worked with this organization. He loved to hunt coon and jack rabbits as well as raising cattle, hogs, dogs and emus. Roy and Freda made their home in rural Bedford. Dear Betty, Leonard and Joe-

I sadly discovered your father’s obituary when I looked on line for

another friend’s mother. It sounds as though your father led a very full life and enjoyed the blessings of a big family. Our dad, Bob

Buffington, passed away in 2007. I just wanted to send our

    sympathies for your loss.
