Robert W. “Bob” Burgoin

Visitation:  Saturday, December 12, 2020, 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Peterson Mortuary, 212 S. Locust Street, Glenwood, Iowa.  Note:  Public gatherings limited to 15 individuals at any time per the Governor’s Public Health Order.

Celebration of Life:  Backroom Lounge at Lake Ohana (pending).

Robert W. “Bob” Burgoin, 74 of Silver City, Iowa passed away December 2, 2020 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was born October 24, 1946 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Clarence and Nellie (Godfrey) Burgoin. Bob had the honor to be raised and continued to live on the same farm in Silver City his entire life.

Bob had two loves in his life, farming and family and was proud of the work he had done to build both. He was a true conservationist and steward of the land. Bob never met a stranger and enjoyed socializing with people from all age groups. No matter where he was, he could strike up a conversation and before long, hours had passed and he had made a new friend. Farming and conversation were his passions but his greatest love was for his family especially his grandchildren. Grandpa never missed an opportunity to travel to a ball game, music concert, dance recital or county fair to support his kids and grandkids. Sometimes showing up on the motorcycle and giving rides after the game! He was a lifetime supporter of 4-H and purchased countless pies and livestock at the auctions. Bob also was a longtime member of Glenwood Lions Club, Farm Bureau and the Glenwood Eagles.

Preceding Bob in passing were his parents and sister Cathy. Survivors include his daughters Stacy and husband Rod Burge of Sidney, Iowa; Jennifer and husband Don Comer of New Market, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Ethan and Chloe Burge; Nick, Noah and Hannah Comer; special grandson Timothy and wife Lauren Snyder of Kansas; Uncle Don and Aunt Ruby Godfrey of Emerson, Iowa; many special kids that called him “Grandpa Bob” or “Uncle Bob”; extended relatives and many friends.

Interment at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Mills County, Fremont County or Page County 4-H Endowment Fund or Silver City Fire and Rescue.

The Class of 64 are going to miss your Dad so very much. There was never a job to small and Bob was there to make it happen for us. I remember seeing him across the Show Ring at the Mills Fair many times. I have a feeling he will be checking up on his “girls” that he was so very proud of. Until we meet again, my Friend.

Bob was a generous supporter of Silver City Volunteer Fire and Rescue fundraising efforts every year. Bob would donate items for the auctions and alway left with several of Loretta Ramsey’s pies. I recall a few bidding wars for the pies that Bob bought. He will be missed. Rest In Peace.

Bob used to always play quarters with me at my brother’s sporting events. If I guessed it right, he’d let me keep the quarter. He bought me a lot of concession snacks in those days. Bob was a very happy, kind man who is going to be greatly missed.

We always enjoyed our time together and the great conversations that we spun. Bob was so friendly and blessed to have such great girls to share his life with. Jen, hope you doing ok and hope you, Don and the kids find peace in knowing that if kindness gets a person through the pearly gates, then your dad definitely had a pass. I hope you and your sister Stacy and family know what an awesome person you’re father was to so many people. We feel honored that we got to meet him and our time together was a blessing.

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. He will be missed by all that knew him. I remember the rides to Sunday school, but have no idea how 8 of us fit into one car. He and Joni would just go round and round. I know he left you with so many wonderful memories, so hold them close to your hearts.
