INURNMENT: Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa

Robert Henry “Bob” Buffington, 84, of Naples, FL, formerly of Glenwood, IA, entered into eternal rest on March 22, 2007 at his home in Naples from complications with Parkinson’s Disease. A celebration of life will be held at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007. Inurnment of ashes will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery.

Bob was born in Buhl Idaho to B.F. Buffington and Jennie Hurst Buffington on Dec. 20, 1922. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to Glenwood where he spent his life farming and cattle ranching after attending both Iowa State University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, and University of Nebraska. In 1949, he toured South America while working for a travel agency and met his wife Teresa Miriam Percebal in Montevideo, Uruguay. They were married on November 30, 1950.

He was a long-time national council member of the John Birch Society. He worked tirelessly for less government and full enforcement of our constitutional rights and freedoms and refused to partake in any farm subsidy programs. After spending time at vacation homes in Lake of the Ozarks and Naples, he moved with his wife Teresa to Naples full time in 2005.

He is survived by his wife Teresa of Naples, FL; their four children, Lisa Liebig of Pocatello, Idaho; Becky Hill of Gloucester, Massachusetts; Kathy & husband Cody Runyan of Driggs, Idaho and Todd Buffington of Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren; Jonathan & Elizabeth Liebig; Joshua, Katrina & Chris Runyan; Teresa, Sara & Alex Hill; four great-grandchildren; other extended relatives and a host of friends.

    My condolencences go out to the family. Bob was a dear freind of the Sargent Family and will be deeply missed. I will remember the days when I put up Hay, Silege and oats for him. and his compasion about Government issues and limited government. Knowing him was an honor.
