Patricia Anne (Lincoln) Holmes was born December 12, 1934 to Lawrence LeRoy and Olga Ilene (Hamilton) Lincoln in rural Mills County, Iowa. She passed away after celebrating her 85th birthday December 15, 2019 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Following high school, Pat graduated from Peru State College which is where she met James Wendell “Red” Holmes. The couple were united in marriage August 22, 1954 in Glenwood, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Debra and James.

In 1954 Pat was teaching first and second grade in Pacific Junction. When the school closed, she came to Glenwood where she taught second grade until her retirement in 1993. Pat looked forward to going out to eat every Saturday night. She loved the outdoors mowing her yard and gardening. Pat enjoyed embroidering, reading, painting and decorating for the holidays. Her family was her pride and joy. You could hear her in the stands cheering for them at their sporting events. She always wanted everything to be right. Her devotion to her church, family and teaching career were evident to all who knew and loved her.

Preceding Pat in passing were her parents and husband Red. Survivors include her children Debra Ann (Holmes) Feller of Vista, California; James “Jim” (Michelle) Holmes of Pacific Junction, Iowa; grandchildren Lauren (Pete) and kids Payton and Cole; Heath (Laurie) and daughter Harper; Keri (Dan) and kids Bodie, Brennen and Brady; Hilleary (Mike) and kids Vance and Emery; extended relatives and many friends.

To the Holmes family: Pete and I are saddened at the news of Pat’s passing. She was one very special lady.
You could always count on her for an honest opinion and a great big smile. Her rolls were wonderful also. Know that she is with her Savior and she will be greatly missed by many.

Was shocked to read of Pat’s passing. An old PJ friend. Her mom was my 3rd and 4th grade teacher which was many years ago and she followed in her mom’s footsteps and became a good teacher as well. Sincere sympathy to Debbie and Jim and their families at this sad time.

I’m going to miss talking to Mrs. Holmes during Homecoming parades. I could always count on hearing her familiar laugh and know that she was always interested in how others were doing. Godspeed, Mrs. Holmes; the class of ’73 will miss you.

Mom always talked about calling you and telling me what you were up to. She thought so much of your Johnny Cash tributes and touring with the band . I wanted her to see you but we just never got that done. She often spoke of Kentucky and family.
