Lyle William Alley, 85 of Glenwood, Iowa passed away at his home with his granddaughter and sister by his bedside on December 3, 2025. He was born May 12, 1940 and raised in Glenwood, Iowa graduating from Glenwood High School in 1958.

Lyle was united in marriage to Janet Pierce in 1959. To this union they were blessed with two children, Ricky Duane and Debra (Debbie) Marie.

Lyle married Dori Taylor on May 9, 1992. They were married 32 years  where they shared the perfect partnership.

Lyle loved all sports including fishing, hunting, golf, bowling and softball. He had many trophies for bowling and softball. Some of his proudest moments included getting his 12 point buck, shooting the double turkey with his nephew Steve at 84 years old was the perfect hunting finale. Lyle was a true sportsman showing his grandkids and great grandkids the same spirit.

He was an avid golfer and a member of the Glenwood Golf Course for over 50 years. Lyle and Dori spent countless hours golfing, teaching the grandchildren their love for the game.

Lyle also enjoyed playing cards and occasionally going to the casino with his granddaughter Sarah and son Rick.

Lyle was employed at Swift Packing Plant in Glenwood. He also owned and operated the Shelly Station and L & S Café in Glenwood later retiring from Glenwood State School as an electrician after 24 years.

Lyle was so proud to have lived long enough to see the five generations of his family. Most of all Lyle loved spending time with his family and friends. These were his most cherished memories and moments.

Preceding Lyle in passing were his parents, wife, daughter Debbie Alley, siblings Jim Alley, Dallas Alley, Edna Severn, Ralph Alley and David Alley.

Survivors include his son Rick Alley of Oakland, Iowa; bonus children Robin (Kyle) Honadel of Kansas City, KS; Shelli (Todd) Weddum of Glenwood, Iowa; Grandchildren Christy Alley, Sarah (Nick) Lorenzen, Melissa Samuelson, Ryan Martin, Brian Combs, Jessica Honadel, Jacob Honadel, Brogan Weddum, Brady Weddum; siblings Lois Davis, Keith Alley, Velma Young, Vena Gregg; Great-Grandchildren Hailey Lorenzen and Lucas Lorenzen and others; as well as one great-great grandchild; many extended relatives and friends.

Interment: West Liberty Cemetery, rural Glenwood, Iowa.

The family plans to designate memorial donations.

    Our Hearts and Prayers are always with the entire Family. Lyle was a Dear Friend as we hunted, Bowled and played ball together. He was a very Pleasant and Special Friend. He will always be missed by a lot of people especially the Ones that hunted And fished with Lyle for many years. Lyle ‘s memory will live forever as He is now walking with the Good Lord in the Garden of Heaven. God Bless
