Lawrence “Bud” Meyers was born February 22, 1928 in Fairbury, Nebraska, the son of Arthur and Sylvia Meyers. He passed away Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Glen Haven Nursing Home in Glenwood, Iowa, at the age of 80. He was married on April 6, 1951, to Dorothy Lavonne Herron in Last Chance, Colorado. Bud and Lavonne made their home in rural Washington County, Colorado. They also lived in southeast Nebraska before settling in Glenwood, Iowa in 1970.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lavonne, sons Randy, in infancy, Ronnie, age 42 and sisters Alberta DeBuhr, Jo Balleu and Mildred Gillard.

His legacy is his four children: Larry and wife Laurie of St. Peters, Missouri; Marty and wife Debbie of Bennett, Colorado; Roger and wife Linda of Glenwood, Iowa and Tammy Gaines and husband Dwight of Waukee, Iowa. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, sisters Marilyn Valeu and Joyce Clifton (Delbert) of Nemaha, Nebraska; brothers Albert and wife Margaret of Parker, Colorado and Dennis and wife Alice of Peru, Nebraska.

Bud enjoyed his family, many friends, farming, woodworking, garage sales and gardening.

    So sorry to learn of Bud’s death. We are especially sorry that my grandson and I are on a visit to Colorado to attend Charlotte’s son’s wedding Saturday. I know how difficult a death of a brother, father, and brother/sister as well as other relatives is.-Al Bohlken

    Bud,you meant so much to all of us. You were always jolly and loving. When we would hear your name it triggered precious thoughts. We will have a joyous reunion up there. Loving memories, cousin Charlotte and family.
