Emilie Ann (Kocourek) Fryzek

INTERMENT: Bohemian National Cemetery, Omaha,

Nebraska.

Emilie Ann (Kocourek) Fryzek, 91, of Omaha, NE entered into eternal

rest on March 2, 2006 at St. Joseph Villa of Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on April 10, 1914 in Douglas County, NE to Frank and Bertha (Teply) Kocourek. After a brief move to Snyder, NE, the family settled in South Omaha at 16th and B Street. Emilie attended Edward Rosewater Grade School. She worked at her father’s bakery, known as Kocourek Bakery with her siblings during her adolescence. Emilie was the oldest child of six. Family social activities were centered around the Omaha Sokol Organization located on 13th and Martha Street. The children all attended gymnastics classes and eventually dances at the hall. Emilie later became a 50 plus year member of the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association.

Emilie was united in marriage to Charles A. Fryzek who later became the prosecuting attorney for the City of Omaha for 22 years. To this union four children were born Robert, Charles, Emil and Marilynn. Always being involved and active in her community Emilie was a member of the Bancroft School P.T.A., president in 1948 and chairman of various committees throughout the 1950’s.

In 1948, she became a Catholic and active member of St. Wenceslaus Church on 14th and Pine Street. She enjoyed participating in the church guild and of course singing in the church choir, City of Omaha’s Catholic Women’s Choir and the Omaha Sokol Czech Choir. She was a very social and energetic person who loved being with her family and friends. She could also make wonderful pastries.

Preceding Emilie in death were her parents, husband Charles A. Fryzek

in 1970, infant son Emil Fryzek, brothers: Milo Kocourek, Frank Kocourek and grandson Robert K. Fryzek, Jr. She is survived by her children: Robert K. Fryzek, M.D. and wife Barbara of Glenwood, IA;

Charles Frank & wife Joan Fryzek of Bellevue, NE; Marilynn J. (Fryzek) Blankman & husband H. Joseph Blankman of Omaha, NE; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; sisters: Ella Piskac of Omaha, NE; Mildred Corder of Sacramento, CA; brother: Edward Kocourek of Omaha, NE, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
