Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One for over 100 years.

Della Mae Evans

Family and Friends, please meet at 10:00 A.M., Peterson Mortuary parking lot in Glenwood prior to departing for Martin Chapel Cemetery.

Graveside Services: Saturday, March 25, 2023, 10:30 A.M., Martin Chapel Cemetery, rural Pacific Junction, Iowa.

Della Mae Evans was born March 26, 1945 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Clarence Charles and Mavis (Fisher) Anglen. She passed away December 16, 2022 in Glenwood, Iowa.

Della was united in marriage to Donald Duane Evans on November 10, 1962 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. To this union two sons were born, Don and Ron. She was an R.T.W. at the Glenwood Resource Center until her retirement.

Della was at her best when celebrating birthdays and holidays. She loved decorating and wrapping presents and was an artist when she did these things. She enjoyed having family over for dinners, parties and being part of picnics and get togethers. She always wanted everyone to feel included and special. She was happiest with spending time with her sons, their families and sisters and brothers and their families. Della loved baking with her granddaughter, Callie. She enjoyed traveling to watch her grandson Donald III bowl all over the Midwest. Della loved shopping and sharing time with whoever was with her on these trips. She was a lifelong Elvis fan and collected many memorabilia over the years.

Children had a special place in Della’s heart. She loved to do things for all the children in her life, especially her sons, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Together they celebrated all of their successes and she tried to ease the pain of any setbacks or losses. She worked with younger children when she began her career at the Glenwood Resource Center. She would often take them home with her for a change of scenery. In her younger years, she never said no when anyone needed anything. She truly was a beautiful soul on this earth and will be dearly missed. I believe there are many Keno/Casino trips going on in heaven now.

Preceding Della in passing were her parents, husband, siblings Gene Anglen; Darrell Anglen; Sam and Sharon Anglen; Shirley and Norman Prien; Barbara and Bud Bowley and baby brother Joe Anglen. Survivors include her sons Don Evans, Jr. (Ruth) Evans of Ogallala, Nebraska; Ron Evans of Glenwood, Iowa; Sister Connie York of Sparks, Nevada; brother and sister in-laws, Delbert and Marilyn Evans; Darlene Evans; Darwin and Barbara Evans; Della Anglen; Deanna and Kenny King; Malinda Evans; Darrell Evans and Carol Evans; grandchildren, Callie (Micah) Thomas of Glenwood, Iowa; Donald Evans, III of Ogallala, Nebraska;  several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Memorial donations may be directed to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
