Darwin T. Schoening

Darwin T. Schoening, 78, of Glenwood, IA, entered into eternal rest on June 27, 2007 at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood, IA. He was born Nov. 5, 1928 in Silver City, IA to Elmer Samuel and Pauline (Goebel) Schoening.

Darwin graduated from Treynor High School. He faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1952. Darwin was united in marriage to Shirley Ann King on Nov. 10, 1961 in Council Bluffs, IA. He was self-employed as a carpenter for many years. His memberships included the Glenwood Lions Club, St.John Lutheran Church in Mineola, and was a board member of Salem Lutheran Church in the Plumer Settlement. Fishing and woodworking projects brought Darwin great joy throughout the years.

Preceding Darwin in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife Shirley Schoening of Glenwood, IA; sons, Tom & wife Becky Schoening of Farragut, IA; Ron Schoening of Counci Bluffs, IA: sisters, Pauline Bryant of Treynor, IA; Marcia & husband John Gaskill of Godfrey, IL; 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
