Darwin Lee “Bud” Coffey, 75 of Glenwood, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on March 2, 2011 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born September 14, 1935 in Mills County, Iowa to Charles Hubert and Sarah Alvina Leora (Cowardin) Coffey.

Bud was united in marriage to Charlene Radford on June 3, 1957 in San Diego, California. To this union three children were born, Charles, Chris and Cammy. Bud faithfully served his country in the Navy. The family moved to Glenwood in 1960, where he enjoyed farming and worked at the Roth Packing House in Glenwood and later in Omaha. He then worked as a storekeeper at the Glenwood State Hospital School.

Bud was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Glenwood. In the early years of their marriage, Bud and Charlene loved to dance. They enjoyed camping, fishing and especially loved to spend time with all of their grandchildren. Bud was a talented carpenter and enjoyed woodworking.

Preceding Bud in death were his parents, brother-in-law, Wilbur Wolfe and granddaughter, Amanda Grace Coffey. He is survived by wife, Charlene Coffey; Charles & wife Renee Coffey all of Glenwood, Iowa; Chris Coffey and friend, Ellen of Victoria, Texas; Cammy & husband Lyle Filkins of Bellevue, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Betty Wolfe and friend, Bud Hammers of Glenwood, Iowa; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.

    Charlene and family, I am so saddened to hear of Bud’s passing. He was such a gentleman and one of the nicest men one would ever meet. I remember him at the volleyball games cheering on Sara. I am very sorry for your loss. Melanie Howard
