INTERMENT: Graveside services 2:00 p.m. Tuesday,

August 14, 2007 at the Fancy Creek Cemetery, Randolph, Kansas.

Clyde LeRoy Gillespie, Sr. was born October 12, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska to Floyd and Viola (Hanson) Gillespie.

On February 6, 1943, in Manhattan, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Delores Gene Burgman, and to this union, five children were born.

Clyde entered into active service, March 31, 1943 and was a Motor Machinist’s Mate Third Class. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on December 31, 1946. He later enlisted in the United States Army, serving until his honorable discharge on June 20, 1950.

For much of his life he was a self-employed truck driver, and he and Delores traveled through and resided in several different states.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Delores, of Glenwood, Iowa; daughter, Lora Gene Barker of Superior, Wisconsin; sons, Jerry and wife, Teresa, Gillespie of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Clyde Jr. and wife, April, Gillespie of Hastings, Iowa; Terry and wife, Amy, Gillespie of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Shawn and wife, Tracy, Gillespie of Treynor, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many friends.
