Carolyn Joyce Carnes, 87 of Glenwood, Iowa formerly of Malvern, Iowa passed away September 12, 2019 in Tabor, Iowa. She was born June 13, 1932 in Rural Malvern, Iowa to Albert and Ruth (Garst) Craig.

She attended a country school close to home and completed high school in Malvern, Iowa. At that time there was no school bus, so her parents bought her a horse to ride to school. She loved horses her entire life and rode until she wasn’t physically able. Joyce enjoyed doing genealogy for the Craig and Carnes family.

Joyce began working for Mills County in 1952. She was a social worker and General Relief Director until she retired in 2003.

Joyce was united in marriage to Jim Carnes on February 14, 1978 in Loveland, Colorado. They made their home near Mineola and enjoyed many years together until Jim’s passing which was six months to the day when she was called home.

Preceding Joyce in passing were her parents, husband Jim, children Valerie Hunche, Danny Carnes and brother Roger. Survivors include her children Steve (Cindy) Carnes of Glenwood, Iowa; Scott (Debra) Carnes of Valley, Nebraska; Katrina Carnes of Omaha, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and friends.

Interment, Tabor Cemetery, Tabor, Iowa.
