Rev. Ross E. Boyce, 85, of Glenwood, Iowa, entered into eternal rest to meet his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2006 at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood. He was born January 22, 1921 in Oak Township, Mills County, Iowa to Elmer Roy and Estella Marie (Benedict) Boyce. Ross received Christ as his Savior as a boy at West Oak Baptist Church in Glenwood. Ross graduated from Glenwood High School in 1938 and later from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1940 and was taken into service in Company I, 168th Infantry Division in February of 1941. He faithfully served his country during WWII and was captured as a Prisoner of War for 2 å_ years in prison camps in North Africa in Italy, France and Germany. He was a veteran and lifetime member of the American Legion.

Ross was united in marriage to Lorraine Helen Baldwin, daughter of Della Chloe and Blanks O. Baldwin on Dec. 26, 1945 in Glenwood, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born, Linda on July 16, 1949 and Christine born September 4, 1953. Ross was employed with the Iowa Road Crew and produce manager of the Glenwood Safeway. He was transferred with Safeway and moved to Lincoln, NE in 1952. The family then moved to Council Bluffs in 1953 and he became employed with John Deere in Omaha, retiring after 25 years of dedication. He began his pastoral career while still employed with John Deere in the parts department and early computer related positions. While continuing to work at John Deere, Ross was ordained into the Lord’s ministry in 1969 at Woodland Community Bible Church in Crescent, IA. The family moved to Dunlap, IA in 1972 where he officiated at the First Congregational Church in 1979, then moved to Quail Valley, CA were he pastured at Quail Valley Bible Church and returned to Iowa in late 1981. He then moved to Falls City, NE where he pastured at Falls City Baptist Church from 1981-86. He retired from the ministry and moved to Hamburg, IA in 1986. Granddaughters Michele Christine and Kimberly Joy were born in 1979 and 1981. Respectively, his wife Lorraine passed away on Aug. 2, 1987. Ross then moved back to his hometown of Glenwood in Nov. of 1995. His daughters and granddaughters hosted a 75th birthday gathering for him in Jan. of 1996. He continued to fill the pulpit in many churches such as Hamburg, Emerson, Glenwood, Clarinda, Pacific Junction and Nebraska City until he was physically unable to do so in 2003. He spent the last 10 years of his life ministering to people in churches, nursing homes, and hospitals. He became the proud great-grandfather to Ghannon Michael Moore on May 12, 2002.

Preceding Ross in death were his parents and wife Lorraine. He is survived by his daughters Linda and husband Thomas Calnan of Red Oak, IA; Christine and husband David Weible of Bellevue, NE; 4 grandchildren: Michele Newingham & husband Matthew of Bellevue, NE; Kimberly Moore & fianc̩ Michael Campbell of Omaha, NE; Joshua Weible and Jeremy Weible of Plattsmouth, NE; great-grandson Ghannon Michael Moore of Omaha, NE; sister, Betty & husband Lester Djureen of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters-in-law: Shirley Perry of Redlands, CA; Mary Baldwin of Caldwell, Idaho; special friend, Rachel Carlile of Glenwood, IA; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
