Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One for over 100 years.

Niles Eric Stanley

Niles Eric Stanley was born January 7, 1959 to Donald Ross and Mary Lola (Hill) Stanley, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Niles attended grade school in Thurman, Iowa and graduated from Fremont-Mills High School in Tabor, Iowa in 1977.

While in junior high and high school, Niles played football and was an avid wrestler. In high school he was in the band and was an active member of the school Thespian’s Club. He was a cast member of all the school plays and musicals.

Niles favorite pastime was to hang out with his friends and make them laugh. He was the life of the party-most of which were self-hosted at his family home in Tabor. He was very outgoing and was always surrounded by his school friends.

Niles was a graduate of the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was also a member of the Strollers Show and was a top performer in their musical productions. He graduated from USD in 1981.

Most of Niles’s career years were spent in the insurance business. Niles was also very passionate about health and fitness. He was an avid runner and cyclist, and while living in Omaha, he taught an aerobics class that was noted as one of the best in town. His innate ability to teach and motivate others, partnered with his magnetic personality, always placed him in the center of attention.

Niles passed from this life June 29, 2015 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Lulu Stanley and Fred and Mary Hill; his father Donald Ross Stanley and mother, Mary Stanley-Van Bruggen; uncles and aunts, Bernard Brooks and Ruth Stanley, James Stanley and Carolyn Stanley.

We remember Niles today for his life, his love and most of all, his infectious laugh. Loved ones and true friends are the ones that never leave our heart”_even if they leave our life for a while”_and even when they die, they will always remain in our heart.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Niles. Now he’s gone. I went to college with Niles and I always loved it when he was in a room. He would light it up. I spent a week with him at the Lake of the Ozarks cabin, summer of 80 or 81, good times. I still have the old pictures from the trip and had a photo of me skiing in my office for years and would think of him every time I looked at that picture. Niles you will be missed, you were one of a kind.

Hello. Did niles live in Scottsdale Arizona back around 1985? I was hitching on I 40 back then when I got a lift to Santa Fe with him. He called with some friends whose mother owned a theatre restaurant where they were doing a production of Brighton beach memories. I headed on to Albuquerque after. Could have been a different niles Stanley. I’d be interested to know.
