Marvin Louis Evans, died on March 25, 2010 at his home in Orinda, California. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood, Iowa. His interment will be at the Glenwood Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Marvin’s memory.

Marvin was one of nine children born to Robert Emmett and Pearl (Pace) Evans. He was born on May 25, 1939 in Malvern, Iowa. He attended school in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1957. Marvin received a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1962 from the University of Iowa where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

After graduation, Marvin worked for the U.S. Steel Company in Chicago, after which he joined the Bechtel engineering firm in San Francisco, California. Later he formed his own construction company.

He returned to Glenwood frequently and enthusiastically joined in the annual Homecoming activities. He enjoyed attending University of Iowa football games, spending time at his lakeside home on the Lake of the Ozarks and visiting his many relatives and scores of old friends in this area.

On January 4, 1964, Marvin married Katherine Kapantais of Hammond, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard Daniel “Dicky” and Jerald Lee “Jerry” Evans. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy, brothers Samuel Wesley Evans of Omaha, Nebraska and Bernard Wayne Evans and wife Judy of Glenwood, sisters Barbara Evans Markuson, Betty Evans Budd, and Virginia Evans Boyd all of Glenwood and Dorothy Evans Black of Huntington UT and sister-in-law Reba Phelps Evans of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Also among his survivors are his godson, Aaron Bochner of Alameda, California and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
