Katherine Ellen Fisher

Katherine Ellen Fisher, 87 of Pacific Junction, Iowa entered into rest on March 20, 2016 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was born on March 13, 1929 to Lyle Rule and Geneva (Rist) Alley in Hastings, Iowa. Katherine attended country school in Benton Country School northwest of Hastings and Glenwood Community High School. She was united in marriage to Harold Baumbach in 1945. She later married Clyde Hardman in 1958, and married Joe Fisher in 1964.

Katherine was employed at the Glenwood Resource Center for 21 years until her retirement. She had previously farmed and worked at Western Electric. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting, gardening, playing cards and especially loved bingo! Katherine always enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She babysat for several families through the years and took care of her brother-in-law for 11 years. She was also a Den mother for many years. She was a member of Full Faith Church.

Preceding Katherine in passing were her parents; son, David Baumbach; husbands Clyde Hardman and Joe Fisher; brothers, George Alley and William Pierce. Survivors include her children, Nancy (Clark) Carnahan of Edwards, CO; Alice (Dale) Williamsen of Bennington, NE; Edward (Penny) Baumbach of Marshalltown, IA; Ronald (Lynn) Baumbach of Emerson, IA: Donald Baumbach of Council Bluffs, IA; Norman (Darla) Fisher of Omaha, NE; Steven (Pamela) Hardman of Pittsview, AL; Danny (Sonya) Fisher of Glenwood, IA; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Barbara Pakos of Pacific Junction, IA; Ruth Schmahl of Omaha, NE; Aleta (Jerry) Stady of Glenwood, IA; Joyce (Leonard) Wright; John (Jean) Pierce both of Council Bluffs, IA ; Lyle (Mary) Pierce of Plattsmouth, NE; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Interment will be held in the Martin Chapel Cemetery, Pacific Junction, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.

    Just wanted to say how sorry Bryan and I were to hear of your loss. Katherine was such a nice lady and we remember her fondly.. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Katherine, but remember when Donnie and Joe worked on the RR in P.J. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all..
