Joel Thomas Peck, 33 of Glenwood, Iowa, formerly of Lincoln, Nebraska entered into eternal rest on July 19, 2009 at his home in Glenwood after a long battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 4, 1975 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Thomas and Janis A. (Akeson) Peck. Joel graduated with the Class of 1994 from Northeast High School in Lincoln and earned a B.S. degree in 1998 from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Joel was united in marriage to Jennifer Kathleen Johnson on Aug. 7, 1999 in Lincoln, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Keally and twins, Sydney and Emily. Joel was a police officer for the Council Bluffs Police Department for eight years. He enlisted in the Army ROTC program from 1994-98 and was in the IRR for 2 years. Joel was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood and the Fraternal Order of Police, Council Bluffs #1. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working in the yard, Nebraska football and especially loved playing with his girls.

Preceding Joel in death were his father, Thomas D. Peck; grandparents, Thomas G. & Opal Peck and Hans & Edna Akeson.

Joel is survived by his wife, Jennifer Peck; daughters, Keally, Sydney and Emily Peck all of Glenwood, Iowa; mother, Janis Peck of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Stephen Peck of Fremont, Nebraska; sisters, Kristine Sandall of Blair, Nebraska; Karen & husband Paul Maas of Berlin, Wisconsin; 3 nieces, Deidre Sandall, Martha Maas, Rachel Harder; 4 nephews, Owen Maas, Caleb Sandall, Hans Berg, Isaac Harder; members of Jennifer’s family who also assisted in Joel’s care, grandparents, Lloyd & Betty Wintermote; mother, Janet & A.J. Gardner, father, Steven Johnson, sisters, Lisa & husband Seth) Harder; Michelle Johnson and friend Joe, brother, Jeff Johnson and a host of friends.
