James Wheeler McClurkin, 54, of Melbourne, Florida passed away June 8, 2006 in West Melbourne, Florida. He was born January 2, 1952 in Bellevue, NE to Ernest James and Thelma Grace (Wheeler) McClurkin.
As a young boy Jim enjoyed fishing. He looked forward to coming back to Iowa to visit his relatives. Jim graduated from high school in Washington D.C. and attended college there. He was employed with a newspaper office while living there. He later moved to Florida, where he worked in the construction business. Jim had various hobbies such as making candles and soaps, reading, cooking and raising vegetables. While living in Glenwood for a short time, he was employed with Rachelle’s Floral Designs and Eatery.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents and sister Sandra Lee McClurkin. He is survived by his daughter Carrie & husband Benjamin Friddle of Cullowhee, NC, aunts: Phyllis & husband August Pontow of Hastings, IA; Helen & husband Bruno Leu of Glenwood, IA, several other extended relatives and a host of friends.
