Jack Franklin Henderson, 76, of Glenwood, IA, died on July 12, 2009 at his home from a prolonged illness. He was born on Nov. 14, 1932 in Harrison County near Logan, IA to Erwin Estes and Irene Bertha (Pearson) Henderson. He was the youngest of seven children.

Jack grew up on various farms near Logan with his parents and graduated from Logan High School. He became particularly active in music, playing the saxophone. For most of his life, Jack played in dance bands in Iowa and throughout the Midwest and loved to entertain. He made a living in retail sales during his adult life and was recently retired in Glenwood, IA. Jack enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Preceding Jack in death were his parents, wife Doris (Peggy) Ling Henderson, daughter, Sharon Kay O’Dell, four sisters, Lois Rice of Prescott, AZ; Donna Jannsen of Prescott, AZ; Nellie June Charleson of Logan, IA; and Darlene Ball of Neosho, MO.

He is survived by his four sons, Randall Jack Henderson of Ankeny, IA; Terry Dale Henderson of Independence, MO; Daniel Lee Henderson of Washington, IA; and Martin Ray Henderson of Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving are his two sisters, Bonnie Frahm of Blair, NE; Dorothy Thompson of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
