Geraldine Joan Dashner

Geraldine Joan Dashner, 88 of Pacific Junction, Iowa and Sun City, Arizona, entered into rest on July 10, 2016 in Glenwood, Iowa. She was born September 9, 1927 in Glenwood, Iowa to Gerald LeRoy and Geraldine (McMaster) Fickel. She was raised in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School. She earned her teaching certificate from U.N.O. Joan was united in marriage to Francis C. “Bud” Dashner on Aug. 1, 1948 in Glenwood, Iowa. To this union three sons were born, Michael, Robert and Christopher.

Joan was a faithful member of the First Congregational U.C.C. and played the organ for 60 years. She also played for numerous weddings and funerals. Joan held many offices in the church as well as teaching Sunday School. She was active in both Dorcas, Deacons and the church choir. Joan was a 50 year member of P.E.O and was past president.

Joan and Francis traveled extensively and enjoyed square dancing and being snowbirds in Sun City, Arizona for 16 years. She loved watching the birds, being outdoors and spending time with her family.

Preceding Joan in passing were her parents, son Mike in 2008 and sister, Jean Hedberg. Survivors include her loving husband, Francis “Bud” Dashner of Pacific Junction, Iowa; sons, Robert and wife Angela Dashner of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Chris and wife Nancy Dashner of Glenwood, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; extended relatives and friends.

Interment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the First Congregational U.C.C. or Hospice With Heart.

    We send our deepest condolences for your loss of wife, mother, & grandmother. She is now free to enjoy her music again in Heaven. She was a wonderful person and will be missed by our community.
