Filomena Mongiello Robinson, 91, of Glenwood, Iowa, formerly of New York City, New York, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood, Iowa. She was born October 30, 1917, one of seven children to Italian immigrant parents, Gaetano and Elizabeth (Corrado) Mongiello.

She graduated from Hunter College in New York and worked in the Corporation Counsel’s Office of Court before entering the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II. In January of 1947, she was united in marriage to Lewis Scott Robinson, III in New York City. The couple made their home in Glenwood so Lewis could join the family business. Filomena was employed in the Mills County Treasurer’s office as clerk, then deputy and in 1950, was elected County Treasurer which office she held until retirement in 1985. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Glenwood. Filomena was a very civic-minded individual and was a loyal supporter of the Glenwood Fire Department, Mills County Historical Society and contributed the large rock at the Glenwood Lake Park. During her retirement years, she loved traveling and took various modes of transportation. She had a keen sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew and cared for her.

Preceding Filomena in death were her parents, siblings, husband, Lewis in 1983 and niece of Gresham, Oregon, Carmel Passannante. She is survived by her nephews, Gaetan Anthony & wife Cindy Passannante of Damascus, Oregon; Caesar Passannante of Goldens Bridge, New York; a large extended family and a host of friends.
