Elva Evonne (Chamberlain) Sargent, 86 of Pacific Junction, Iowa entered into rest on December 9, 2017 in Griswold, Iowa. She was the fourth daughter of five born on May 25, 1931 in Malvern, Iowa to Frank Edwin and Hildor Louise (Borene) Chamberlain.
Elva attended Maple Grove country school for eight years and graduated from Malvern High School where she was valedictorian and a talented baton twirler. She was active in 4-H Club work and the Mills County 4-H Band. Following graduation, she was employed with Mutual of Omaha until her marriage to Merrill Lee Sargent. The couple were united on January 31, 1952 in Topeka, Kansas. To this marriage two sons were born, Dale Lee and Ronald Merrill.
Elva enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading and loved cooking and taking care of her family. Elva was a member of the Pacific Junction United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher.
Preceding Elva in passing were her parents, husband, sisters, Virginia Primrose, Velma Houts and Twyla Johnson. Survivors include her sons, Dale (Pam) Sargent; Ron (Pam) Sargent, all of Pacific Junction, Iowa; grandsons, Matthew (Laura) & their children, Kate and Jack of Glenwood, Iowa; Daniel (Courtney) Sargent of Pacific Junction, Iowa; sister Naomi Christensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; extended relatives and many friends.
Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood, Iowa.
