Dale W. Smith, 68, of Glenwood, IA, entered into eternal rest on June 3, 2006 in Omaha, NE. He was born June 4, 1937 in Blanchard, OK to William Thomas & Laura Rachel (Hail) Smith. Dale graduated from Dibble High School in 1955, earned his degree in Agriculture Education from Oklahoma State University in 1959 and his Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from U.N.O. in 1964.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Eileen Edmonson on March 24, 1959 in Tulsa, OK. To this union two sons were born, William and John. Dale and Eileen raised their family in Glenwood where Dale was a teacher and later Guidance Counselor for the Glenwood Community School District until his retirement in 1999. He was a deacon and active member of the First Baptist Church, member and past president of Glenwood Rotary since 1965, Dollars for Scholars, board member for Reach and S.A.D.D., civil service committee, treasurer for Republican Central Committee Mills County, Glenwood Park Board, past president for Southwest Iowa Guidance Counselors and served on the state committee.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers. He is survived by his wife Eileen Smith of Glenwood, IA; sons, Dr. William & wife Ann Smith of Edmond, OK; Pastor John & wife Jeanne Smith of Carmel, Indiana; 5 grandchildren; Tyler, Courtney, Emily, Daniel and Abigail; brothers and sisters; Norma Jean Johansen of Bartlesville, OK; Dr. Willard Smith of Rock Island, IL; Dr. Clodus & wife Paula Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; Barbara Jean & husband Dr. Mike Thomas of Ninnekah, OK; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
