Charles E. Hunt, 88, of Glenwood, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2007 in Council Bluffs, IA. He was born September 19, 1918 in Mills County to Claude Dennie & Florilla Lucille (Sandell) Hunt.

Charles graduated from Glenwood High School in 1936. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Linda Jens on June 1, 1939 in Glenwood, Iowa. He worked as a surveyor for the county engineer from 1939-41, then he relocated to the bomber plant from 1942-44, until being drafted into the Army in 1944 during World War II and served as 1st Sergeant for the 1st Cavalry in the Philippines and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Following his return home, Charles began farming and remained on the farm until recently. Throughout the course of his life he called Bingo for the American Legion for 23 years, volunteered running the sideline chains for football and keeping score for basketball, enjoyed playing cards and took numerous camping trips. He and Genevieve were snowbirds and headed to Florida, Arizona and Texas during Iowa’s winter months. He was a member of the First Congregational U.C.C., Lion’s Club and American Legion. His faith and family were his foundation.

Preceding Charles in death were his parents, brothers, Noah “Snowy”, Claude Jr., and Floyd and grandson Matthew Hunt. He is survived by his wife Genevieve Hunt of Glenwood, IA; children, Dean Albert & wife Rebecca Hunt of Council Bluffs, IA; Deloma & husband Charles Pippitt of Littleton, CO; Susan & husband Robert Simmon of Glenwood, IA; Wendell & wife Margaret Hunt of Bettendorf, IA; 10 grandchildren, Laura & husband Steve Hovey, Amanda & husband Marcus Hug, Corey Hunt, Shawn & husband Scott Hollis, Chri & husband Duke Pope, Tanya & husband Steve Klingman, David & wife Sarah Simmon, Charles A. Hunt, Nick Hunt & Savanna Hunt; 8 great-grandchildren, Paige, Aaron & Conor Hovey, Amy Hollis, Josh & Reece Pope, Everett & Ryan Klingman; brother, LaVern & wife Helen Hunt of Bellevue, NE; sister, Florilla & husband Bill Jens of Glenwood, IA; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
