Betty Jean (Hammers) Bare, 71, of Ellston, IA, formerly of Malvern, IA, entered into eternal rest on Nov. 6, 2006 in Mt. Ayr, IA. She was born Jan. 9, 1935 in Hamburg, IA to Martin & Wilma (Carmen) Dresher. Betty was united in marriage to Joseph Eldon Hammers and to this union six children were born, Joseph, Martin, Linda, Phyllis, Joanne and Roger. Her husband Joseph passed away in Sept. of 1986. On Sept. 24, 1996, she was united in marriage to Woodrow Bare. Betty embraced his children, Pam, Diane, Woodrow, Kenneth, Debra, Lilly, John, Cindy, William, Denise and Tammy and loved each of them as her own.

Betty was employed as a med-aide at Pacific Place in Pacific Junction until her retirement. She attended church in Bradyville for many years. Collecting chickens was a favorite hobby she enjoyed.

Preceding Betty in death were her parents, first husband Joseph Eldon Hammers, son Joseph Hammers, daughter Tammy Bare, granddaughter, Evelyn Bare, grandson, Joshua Mark Hammers and great-grandson, Carter Meaike. She is survived by her husband Woodrow Bare of Ellston, IA; children, Martin Hammers of Hastings, IA; Linda Scott of Council Bluffs, IA; Phyllis Buckner of Malvern, IA; Joanne Bullock & husband Shelby of Ellston, IA; Roger Hammers of Clarinda, IA; Pam Bare and Diane Bare both of Detroit, MI; Woodrow Bare and wife Josie of El Paso, TX; Kenneth Bare of Wichita, KS; Debra Wingerd and husband Mike of Glenwood, IA; Lilly Stone & husband William of Cartersville, GA; John Wade & wife Jill of Malvern, IA; Cindy Wade of Glenwood, IA; William Wade & wife Anna of Pacific Junction, IA; Denise Woods & husband Mike of Council Bluffs, IA; sister, Karen Goode of Council Bluffs, IA; brothers, John Dresher and Dale Dresher both of Tabor, IA; Ed Dresher of NE; leaving 64 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends to celebrate the life of this wonderful lady.
