Arthur Gerrald Goehring, 97, of Glenwood, Iowa entered into eternal rest on July 12, 2009 in Glenwood, Iowa. He was born to Martin Henry and Ada W. (Johnson) Goehring on Jan. 29, 1912 in Emerson, Iowa. Art lived in Emerson until age 5, the family then moved to Glenwood, where he was raised and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1929. He attended Iowa State for one year and returned to the rural Glenwood area where he farmed. Art was united in marriage to Thelma L. Hoverter in Nebraska City, Nebraska on Jan. 1, 1933. To this union two sons were born, Neil and an infant son who passed away at birth. He moved to Malvern in 1938 and continued to farm until 1958. He then began selling insurance from 1959-75 and moved to Sidney, Iowa in 1960.

In 1975, Art went to the Philippines with the Peace Corps, returning in 1977. He moved to Red Oak in 1977 and opened his woodworking shop. He was united in marriage to Mabel Harrison Schneckloth on Jan. 15, 1980 in Red Oak, Iowa, retired in 1996 and returned to Glenwood. He moved to Hamburg in 1999, returning to Glenwood in 2003.

Art was a member of Kiwanis and was past president and board member of the Farm Bureau Board. He was baptized in the Methodist faith, but attended church at the First Christian Church in Glenwood. He was united in marriage to Margaret (Lincoln) Mintle in 2006 and the couple really enjoyed their three years spent together.

Preceding Art in death were his parents, wives, Thelma and Mabel and infant son. He is survived by his wife Margaret Mintle-Goehring of Glenwood, Iowa; son, Neil and wife Donna Goehring of Golden Valley, Arizona; step-son, Ronald and wife Julie Schneckloth of Bellevue, Nebraska; 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred and wife Florence Goehring of Thedford, Nebraska and a host of friends.
